GLOBAL VILLAGE AGES More than half of the people in the village are under the age of 30 The number of children in the global village is shrinking and the number of elderly people are growing. A hundred years ago, there were only 8 people over the age of 65 but by 2050 there may be as many as 16 54% of people are under the age of 30 and 46% of people are over 30 The population is slowly shrinking because in 1900 there were 44 young people (under the age of 19). Now, 100 years later, there are 37. If the growth rate stays the same, by 2200 there will only be 30 people under the age of 19 and because the number of young people is shrinking the number of elderly people is growing. If the number of elderly people keeps growing people will die and the population will die out. By 2050 there may be only 23 young people. A global problem that we could connect to the global village's ages would be population getting smaller. Every year the number of young people shrinks and the number of elderly people grows. If the number of elderly people keeps growing people will die and the population will die out completely. 54% of people are under age 30 46% people
