How to navigate the Community College, CSU, UC, & Common App college applications
Tips:
Create a new/professional email account
Check your email regularly
Create a secure document where you can save all your log-in information
Sign into Student Portals regularly
On all application use your full legal name so that it matches your legal documents
Social Security # or VISA, permanent resident card or any other residency documentation (if applicable).

Names and dates of all high schools and colleges attended.
A valid e-mail address that you check frequently

1.) Apply online
2.) Send ACT/SAT/AP test scores through Collegeboard or ACT website
3.) Request Transcripts & mail to each campus' admissions office
4.) WAIT...
5.) Check email regularly for requests

4.) Complete Brag Sheet and provide it when you request letters of rec in person & on Naviance (Teacher, Counselor, Mentor) AT LEAST 3 WEEKS NOTICE!!!!!
5.) Apply

Personal Statements
1. Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
2. The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
3. Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?
4. Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.
5. Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family.

1.) Politely ask a teacher, counselor, and if needed one outside individual if they are willing to write you a letter
2.) Request the school officials on Naviance, request the outside individual through Common App
3.) Download and complete the Brag Sheet off of the "senior corner"
4.) Provide each with the "brag sheet" and a list of the schools you are applying to. Give them AT LEAST 2 WEEKS, or more!
4.) Check in with them and ask if there is anything else they need.
