How to find a Placement

“I would always look favourably on graduates who have spent time working or studying abroad. Not only does it demonstrate a go-getter attitude, it tells me they have many of the skills that the business world value."

Susie Stanford, Head of Business Development at Sapinda UK Ltd
You'll find me in the Careers & Employability Centre,
1st Floor South Wing
This year we advertised over 900 roles and 60% were English-speaking placements!

Favourable candidates:

Demonstrate culture awareness of the location
Demonstrate commitment and passion to study

Study Abroad
Studying abroad gives you an exceptional opportunity to enhance your degree with an international dimension, develop future business contacts and prepare you for the global employment market.
But employers do not value studying abroad as much as they value work placements....
This is a myth!!
Unemployment rates of students who went abroad are
23%
lower than those who didn't
29%
of students who studied abroad were earning over £20,000 compared to
17%
who didn't
The benefits of study abroad are almost endless.
First of all, it's going to make you
much more marketable
here in the United States, because more and more companies are realizing that they need people with experiences around the world,
who can speak different languages, who can transition easily into other cultures and people who bring to their jobs a sensibility and a sensitivity for other people.
What do employers really think?
“Graduates who have studied overseas are, by and large, better at communicating complex details. They’re also used to being put in group situations and are better at building a rapport quickly.”
Dan Russon, Xceed Group

My placement was the best year of my life; meeting people from different cultures, learning a new language, being exposed to a completely different lifestyle to that of my home country- these are just some of the reasons as to why this experience has been the most exciting of my life.
