Sapienza, founded in 1303 by Pope Boniface VIII, was
Rome’s first university and is amongst the oldest in Europe.
Over the course of seven centuries, it has established
a reputation as a distinctive centre for learning, teaching
and research.
With just over 110,000 students, 3880 professors and 4300
members of staff, Sapienza is also the largest university
in Europe, a city within the city. Sapienza offers a broad
range of courses, over 250 degree programmes and more
than 70 PhD courses.

The main campus, designed by Marcello Piacentini, opened
in 1935. It is located close to the city centre. It is the largest
university in Europe - a city within the city - where teaching
activities are integrated with libraries, museums and
comprehensive student services. Faculties and Departments
also pursue their activities in off-campus buildings
throughout the city. In fact, there are two other university
campuses in the Lazio Region.

This year, all students who register and who enroll in the course a reduction of 20% will be levied on the amount of annual fees if they have a Isee for the right to university study between 0 and 20,000 euro.
The facility covers about a third of the students enrolled at the Sapienza University and will be divided between the first and second installment.

At the sports facilities spread over three venues throughout the city, both complete beginners and seasoned athletes can participate in various indoor and outdoor sports. Take the chance to compete in a basketball tournament, get a boat license or pick up salsa.

Sapienza has a long tradition in the research and promotion of performing arts. The music calendar is very busy, with concerts, orchestras and choir performances all year round. Students and staff can also unleash their musical talents and audition to be part of the Sapienza music community.
