Transcript of Space

The planet Earth is the only planet that has life. The Earth is 150 million km (1AU) from the sun.The volume is 1083210000000 cubic km.
The Moon
The moon is 384400 km (0.0027AU). It is 4 billion years old.The maria on the moon formed when lava on the moon became solid.
The surface of Mars is covered with rust.Mars is 1.52 AU from the sun.Mars used to have water on the surface.
Phobos and Deimos
They were discovered by Asaph Hall in 1877.They were named by Henry Madan.
The sun
Norma Arm
Perseus Arm
Sagittarius Arm
Centaurus Arm
Center of the Milky Way
Andromeda Galaxy
Triangulum Galaxy
The Triangulum Galaxy is a class (Sc) Spiral Galaxy. It is 2.7 million light years away It is the third largest galaxy in the Local Group.
The Andromeda Galaxy is the largest galaxy in the Local Group. It is the classification Sb.It is 2.5 million light years away.It is also the farthest thing visable to the naked eye.
The sun is a star that is 1 AU from Earth. It is a G2 classification star.It takes light from the sun 8 minutes and 18 seconds to reach Earth. The sun is 4.6 billion years old.
The planet Saturn is the second largest planeI.It is 9.54 AU from the sun.It was
the farthest of the planets known in 10 B.C.It has 7 rings. Only 3 rings can be seen from Earth.
Saturn's moons
The largest of Saturn's moons is Titan. The second largest moon is Rhea. There has been 3 rings detected around Rhea. Most moons of Saturn were discovered in the 1600's.
The dwarf planet Ceres was discovered on January first, 1801 by Guiseppe Piazzi. It is the smallest of the dwarf planets.
Jupiter is the largest planet. It also has the fastest rotation, one day is only 9.9 hours.
Jupiter's moons
There are 4 moons of Jupiter tjat were named by Galileo. They are called the Galilean moons. The largest moon is Ganymede.
The total mass of all the asteroids is smaller than the moon. The first asteroid was discovered on the first day of January 1801.The asteroid was named Ceres. But it is now a dwarf planet.
Uranus is the the seventh planet from the Sun and the third largest (by diameter).Uranus was discovered by William Herschel on March 13, 1781.Uranus' atmosphere is about 83% hydrogen(H),15% helium(He) and 2% methane(CH4).
Red Dwarf Stars
They are stars smaller than the sun(see slide 2).They are (M0 to M9) stars. The average mass is 0.3 solar masses. They are 2100 to 3200 degrees Celsius and they are also under 3,500 K .
Uranus' Moons
The largest moon is Titania and the smallest is Cordelia .Most of the moons were discovered Voyager 2 and Voyager 1.
Orange Dwarf Stars
These stars are also smaller than the sun(slide 2).They are (K0 to K9) stars. The average mass is 0.8 solar masses. They are 3300 to 4700 degrees Celsius and they are also 3,500 to 5,000 K.
Yellow Dwarf Stars
The Local Group is a group of galaxies. It has 54 members. The biggest galaxy is Andromeda Galaxy.
Spiral Galaxies in The Local Group
There are 3 spiral galaxies in The Local Group. The spiral galaxyies are the Milky Way, Andromeda galaxy(M31, NGC 224), and Triangulum Galaxy(M33, NGC 598).
Elliptical galaxies of The Local Group
There is 1 elliptical galaxy in The Local Group. The elliptical galaxy is M32 (NGC 221).
Neptune is the eighth planet from the Sun.Neptune was discovered by Urbain Le Verrier and John Couch Adams on September 23, 1846.Its atmosphere is mostly hydrogen(H) and helium(He) with a small amount of methane(CH4).
Neptune's Moons
The largest moon is Triton and the smallest moon is S/2004 N1.Most of the moons were discovered by Voyager 2.
