History of the Sailboat
-The first sailboat was first invented in 4,000 B.C.
-The first working sailboat was made by the Egyptians, and was first ridden in Egypt.
-Before sailboats people could not sail long distances, but could travel short distances on rafts.
Uses for Sailboats
Captains, Fisherman, Tourist, Racers, Ocean sport owners, and sailors all use sailboats.

Starboard- right side of ship facing forward.
Mast and Boom- main poles holding up the sails.
Jib sail- smaller sail in the front of the boat.
Jib stay- jib attaches to this.
Main Sail- is the bigger sail in the back.
Haglard- pulls the sails up.
Deck- flat surface of the boat.
Rudder- underwater fin to steer boat.
Keel- Is a part that is under water.
Cock pit- where the captin sits to steer the boat.
