When Was King David Born?
King David is one of the most important figure.Born in 907 BCE, he reigns as king of Israel for 40 years, dying at age 70 in 837 BCE.Jesse was his father and Nitzevet was his mother.
1. David was of the tribe of Judah.
2. David was the eighth and youngest son of Jesse of Bethlehem. There is no record of David’s mother’s name.
3. Before he became a King, David was a shepherd as mentioned in 1 Samuel 17:15
4. As a young boy, David was known as a great warrior who killed the giant Philistine Goliath (Goliath of Gath)
5. David was the second of the Israelite kings (after Saul).
6. In Jewish tradition David became the ideal king, the founder of an enduring dynasty, around whose figure and reign clustered around messianic expectations of the people of Israel.
