Empowerment Takes More Than a Minute
, Kenneth Blanchard write, “Empowerment is not giving people power, people already have plenty of power, in the wealth of their knowledge and motivation, to do their jobs magnificently. We define empowerment as letting this power out."
Horizontal oppression occurs when individuals or groups who are being oppressed take their feelings of anger, pain and despair out on other oppressed individuals or groups including their own.

My definition
Empowerment is gathering the skills, knowledge and understanding that will help others to overcome obstacle in all areas of their lives - work, school, family and social- and then sharing that knowledge in order to help everyone obtain empowerment.
