Henry Ford Inventor of the Moving Assembly Line Inventor of the Model T born in 1863, Henry grew up on a family farm
in Dearborn Michigan. He went to a one-room school and had farming chores. At an early age, he showed an interest in mehanical things and had a dislike for farm work.
In 1879, he started working as an apprentice machinist. He did this for 3 years. In 1891, he became an engineer with the Edison Illuminating Company in Detrioit. In 1896, he completed a self-propelled vehicle the Quadricycle. It had 4 wheels and had only two forward speeds with no reverse The Ford Motor company
was incorpoated in 1903
He introduced the Model
T in 1908. This started a
new era in transportation
To meet the growing demand for the Model T, the company opened
a large factory in Michigan, where a continuous assembly line was
introduced. This revolutionized automobile production, by reducing
assembly time per vehicle and lowering the costs of the car.
