Offended by the
racism, he decided
he could to better
His goal was to create
a story that combined
African story in a
Western style.
For centuries, Europe
knew nothing about
the African continent.
It was long called "the dark continent"
Eventually, explorers found
Africa was full of profitable
resources: diamonds, slaves, etc.
Many European powers
tried to get control of
the resource-rich continent.
This was the start of
colonialism on the
African continent.
