Transcript of Career Research
any foreign language? Rockettes Traveling My career choice is a Rockett. The specific field is Ballet/Dance/theatre. There are specific things that are required. You must be proficient in ballet, tap, and jazz. Pointe work is a plus but not required (I will be on pointe next year). Some good universities that would be great to get a professional dance education for careers like a Rockette, Broadway dancer, or ballet dancer would be.....
-Columbia College (in Chicago)- $35,183
-Ball State -$21,428
-Ohio State -$25,445 There are a couple other requirements to be a Rockette that I may or may not reach. You must be 18. Each dancer must be between 5'6 and 5'10 1/2 feet tall in character shoes (heels). The Rockettes make a salary of $1,500 a week! They're responsibilities are unbelievable, they have seven dance numbers and six costume changes per show, as many as five shows in a 13-hour day, and as many as six days of work a week. The Rockettes are an advanced classic Broadway dance group. Best known for their prefect kick line. A lot of people say the Rockettes are the best in New York. There are 36 Rockettes and 4 understudies in each show. A foreign language is not necessary. French would help though, because a lot of the dance language is French. The Rockettes do a lot of traveling all over the country around Christmas time for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, which is their most famous show. They do some traveling during the rest of the year. I think it would be very fun to do this. This is one of the reasons why I want to be a Rockette!
