What is the difference between a root word, a prefix and a suffix ?
We use root words, prefixes and suffixes everyday without even knowing.
What is a prefix ?
A prefix is a group of letters that you can add to the beginning of a root word to change its meaning.
What is a Suffix ?
A suffix is a group of letters that you can add to the beginning of a root word to change its meaning.
Remember !!
* When adding a prefix to a root word, you do not have to remove any letter from the word.

* When adding a suffix to a root word, you may have to remove the last letter especially if it is an e or add an extra letter.
What is a root word ?
A root word is the most basic form of a word that has a description, thought or meaning. A root word can have a prefix or suffix added to it.

E.g: Mis + Fortune = Misfortune
E.g: Fortune + ate = Fortunate
