JUST AS TONGUE CAN BE USED AS A WEAPON PRODUCING DEATH, SO IT CAN ALSO BE USED AS A MEANS OF IMPARTING
TAMING THE TONGUE
Our tongue reflects the true condition of the heart
Our tongue reveals our character and
Our tongue determines our destiny
THE 8 DEADLY SINS OF THE TONGUE
1. Talking too much
2. Talking foolishness
3. Gossiping/Slandering Backbiting
4. Speaking perversely
6. Speaking violent or harsh words
8. Grumbling and Complaining
"It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person
A person as a whole becomes corrupted because of the uncontrolled tongue
Our careless words not just ruin others, but our own appearance and personality
It can strip radiance and beauty of Christ away from our lives
It can be an instrument of healing.
A tool for giving thanks.
10 WAYS TO USE OUR TONGUE
Our words should be few
Our words should be self-controlled
Our words should be full of life
Our words should be Spirit-led
Our words should be true
Our words should be pure
Our words should be humble
Our words should be well informed
Our words should glorify God
Our call is to glorify God in all aspects of our life
What are some ways you have been hurt by words?
In what way do you sin through your words?
What concrete ways can you do to tame your tongue?
So also the tongue is a small member,
yet it boasts of great things.
How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!
And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness...
For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature,
can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind,
but no human being can tame the tongue.
It is a restless evil full of deadly poison.
With it we bless our Lord and Father,
and with it we curse people
who are made in the likeness of God.
