LIFE BEFORE THE SOLDIERS
The soldiers found Sarah Nita's house so Sarah Nita and Kaibah have to go to a canyon with the other people like them.

SORROW

Sarah Nita is a Navajo girl and is twelve summers. Her sister's name is Kaibah and she is nine summers. (summers is how they record years in age). Sarah Nita lives with her mom, dad, and her dog (Silver Coat). She lives close to her aunt and cousin. She is also close to her whole tribe who lives in New Mexico.
Life before the soldiers was a peaceful life for a Navajo girl in her time.
Chores were as normal as any day until.........
The men in blue are English settlers. They have come to take over the Navajo's land.
THE MEN IN BLUE
GETTING TO THE CANYON


They had to hide from and dodge soldiers on the way to the canyon.
MEETING "FAMILY"
When they get to the canyon they meet people that say they would treat them like family. some of their names were High Jumper, Sah- nee, Grandmother,
Grandfather, Slim Woman, Aunt, Starlight, and many more.
The men in blue go far enough down the canyon that they find Sarah Nita and the rest of the Navajo Tribe. Kaibah nick-names one Mean Mouth. While the Navajo's are in a cold dark room for hiding, the men in blue are take them to the place of the soldiers and intend to get the rest of them too.
THE MEN IN BLUE STRIKE AGAIN
After they were captured by the soldiers,
they had to take a long walk to the mouth of the canyon to the camp of the soldiers.
on the way there, they faced many problems such as coldness, hunger, illness, and many others. during the walk Sarah Nita met a girl name Sah-nee
THE LONG WALK
THE SOLDERS VILLAGE
As Sarah-Nita and Kaibah return they
find their "new family" starting to build a shelter to sleep in. They have to eat new food including white powder called flour that they do not like or know how to use. With that food the Navajo's think the soldiers are trying to kill them.
As Sarah-Nita and her whole family not including her mom and dad who were taken away by the soldiers. Sarah-Nita asks Grandmother if they can go look for their family. They look everywhere but cannot find them and the return to the village where they are resting.
One day the soldiers decided to move
to another base. The Navajo's ask high
jumper and Sarah Nita to collect wood
for upcoming fires. While they are
collecting the wood, High Jumper tells
Sarah Nita that he plans to run away from
the soldiers camp. Deep down Sarah doesn't
want him to go.
GETTING READY
During the terrible march, a lot of people run away from their fate at the camp of the soldiers.
Sarah Nita thinks that High Jumper ran away but he wanted to stay and help his grandparents
THE TERRIBLE MARCH
THE FIRST DEATH
The first death was a grandmother named Dezbah who couldn't keep up because she was too weak to carry on. The Navajo people were falling like dominoes. Dezbah's death was fallowed by many others including a pregnant woman who ended up getting shot by a soldiers when she was weak like Dezbah and couldn't carry on
THE NEW BASE
The new base contained many of the Navajo people that had already been captured by soldiers. Sarah Nita and Kabiah went looking for there lost mother and father. They were nowhere in sight.
THE MEN GO TO WORK
The men went to work. The soldiers told High Jumper to go too even though he was just a boy.
They came back with bent shoulders from digging
all day.
FINDING FOOD
The family needed to find other food besides flour and beef. They also needed bark for Starlight. So they went out to the field on the day when the soldiers had the day off. They went and found one tree with bark left but corn.
THE NEXT DAY
The next day Sarah Nita and Kabiah noticed people coming out of the house near the men's working place. There were

I give the book 4 stars because its not the best book but it ended good.
