Kinetic Energy to Change in Thermal Energy Kinetic Energy is a measure of the energy an object has as a result of its movement. Yoenis Cespedes is a very strong person. He has been known to hit a baseball a very long way. When he hits a home run, the baseball moves very quickly off his bat and into the seats. When the ball is moving quickly, the baseball has a lot of Kinetic Energy due to its high velocity. If he hit the ball more softly, the ball would have less Kinetic Energy because the ball would not be moving as fast. Second, the faster an object is moving the more kinetic energy it will have. First, the more mass an object has, the more Kinetic Energy it will have. The amount of Kinetic Energy an object has depends on two things: The vehicle in the video has kinetic energy due to its movement. While the car is skidding on the ice, some of the car's Kinetic Energy is turning into Thermal Energy because of the friction between the tires and the road. At the end of the video, all the vehicle's Kinetic Energy has become Thermal Energy because the friction between the car and the ground has caused all the Kinetic Energy to turn into Thermal Energy. 1.
