Frida Kahlo was born on July 6, 1907. She was born in Coyocoán, Mexico City. She was considered the greatest artist in Mexico. She was married to Diego Rivera. Who is Frida Kahlo? What happened to Frida Kahlo? Frida Kahlo's Self Portraits By Gabriel Spears & Joline Frida Kahlo Frida Kahlo got into a horrible accident which caused her to be unable to have kids. This accident affected Frida for the rest of her life. She felt pain that would put her in the hospital at months at a time. This tragedy was some of the insporation behind Frida's artistry "I paint self portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the subject I know best." Frida Kahlo would make herself look "ugly" or "unattractive" in her portraits Artistry Why Do We Need To Remember Her? Frida Kahlo wasn't just an artist. She was a women who looked at herself in a way that made her look bad. She took her pain and insecurity and turned it into beautiful art. I think today we should take notes on Frida Kahlo. She took bad and made it into something productive. She might not have thought it, but she was a very important person. Frida Kahlo was a great artist. She started painting after her accident while she was immoblie. She painted many self portraits which often incorporated symbolic portrails of physical and physiological wounds. Her painting style was influenced by Diego Rivera, who later became her husband. She also had a heavy influences of Mexican and Amerindian culture
