TALK NO. 5
COVENANT ORIENTATION WEEKEND
"
Work is just work
"
(Compartmentalized Living)
PITFALLS OF A CHRISTIAN IN THE WORKPLACE:
NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES ON OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
(INTERNAL EFFECTS)
ACTIVITY:

Small Group Sharing

What specific aspects of my work life are least Christian or most conflicting with being Christian? What can I do to reverse this?
Share two things you will commit to do when you return to work to help bring Christ to people in your workplace?
A
PITFALL NO. 1
"I was successful before God got here"
(Past success formula doesn't include God)
PITFALL NO. 2
"I do good works outside anyway"
(Justifying and rationalizing our actions and attitudes in the workplace )
PITFALL NO. 3
We do not live one whole and Christian life.
NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES OF OUR BEHAVIOR
(EXTERNAL EFFECTS)
We practice having double standards.
We do not give our best to our work.
We do not put our full trust in God. And we deny ourselves the chance to experience the real meaning of
"God is enough"
- to allow God to be truly a father and the greatest provider to us.
Our holiness is not whole.
"None of us lives for oneself, and no one dies for oneself. For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's."

Romans 14:7-8
Entrust your whole life to God and live one life for Christ.
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose hope is the Lord. He is like a tree planted beside the waters that stretches out its roots to the stream: it fears not the heat when it comes, its leaves stay green; in the year of drought it shows no distress, but still bears fruit."
Jeremiah 17:7-8
Be a WITNESS.
"Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly father."
Matthew 5:15-16
Re-orient our hearts to focus on faithfulness rather than success.
"God hasn't called me to be successful. He's called me to be faithful."
Mother Teresa
You do your best and by doing so, glorify God.
"Whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly, working for the Lord and not for humans. You well know that the Lord will reward you with inheritance. You are servants but your Lord is Christ."
Colossians 3:23-24
Thank you and may God be praised!
