ECOLOGICAL THEORY CLASSICAL SOCIOLOGICAL THEORY LARGE IN SIZE HIGH DIVORCE RATES PARENTS DON'T PROVIDE DISCIPLINE FOR CHILDREN MANY PEOPLE ARE POOR THESE PEOPLE DON'T CARE ABOUT COMMUNITY IN TURN, THESE PEOPLE DONT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE COMMUNITY JOHN HAGAN "LARGE NUMBERS OF MINORITIES IN ONE AREA"
"LOWER WAGES"
"MIGRATION OF MIDDLE CLASS AFRICAN-AMERICANS, LEAVING THE POOR BEHIND"
"GOVERNMENT POLICIES TO REDUCE SOCIAL SERVICES" HIS OPINION OF CAUSE SOCIAL LEARNING LEARN FROM OTHERS CRIME SEEMS DESIRABLE AND NATURAL TO THEM LEARN FROM MEDIA; NEWS;VIDEOGAMES PEOPLE COMMIT CRIME FOR
-MONEY
-SOCIAL ACCEPTANCE
-PLEASURE PARENTS ARE CRIMINALS OF THIS EVER SEE A SCREAMING CHILD IN A SUPERMARKET? WHAT DOES MOM OR DAD USUALLY DO TO CALM THE SITUATION "STOP CRYING AND ILL GIVE YOU SOME CANDY." MOST CHILDREN STOP CRYING. MOST DOMINANT THEORY OF TODAY choosing to commit a crime even though they (the criminal) has weighed the good and bad consequences these criminals often look at whether or not the consequences are worth it. they might be doing it because they need money, or fame/popularity or even status according to robert agnew, crime is an activity and criminal behavior is a trait. STRAIN THEORY CRIMINALS FEEL THE NEED TO COMMIT A CRIME BECAUSE IF THEY DON'T, IT WILL CAUSE STRAIN ON THEIR LIFE For example, money is important and when you aren't making money, you get angry and result to something else to get that money; crime. often times, men are the ones this theory is applying to and low class people as well. negative stimuli can also be the cause of crime. such as... child abuse
physical punishment from parents
negative school experiences
negative experiences with friends/peers
