Greece consist of a large mainland at the southern end of the balkans; the Peloponnesus Peninsula and numerousislands including Crete,Rhodes,Kos,Euboea and the Dodecanese and Cyladic groups of the Aegan Sea as well as the Ionian sea islands. The festival was held to honor Zeus. They would hold the olympics every four years. The olympics began in 776 B.C. Men were the only ones who could do the olympics. Alexander the greatwas the king of macedonia and went to war with sparta. He won against sparta. he conquered Mesopotamia, Egypt, Persia and part of India. Some of there arts were amazing the art showed no emotions.They found out about astronomy. There government was ruled by good and bad emporers. They beat there children to train for war. They took whips to kids if they would hit there mother or father. The kids died in training either from exaustion, starvation or just from fighting each other. Sparta had the most intense training in the world even in these times. Athens was known for freedom, art and democracy in the conscience of the civilized world.The capital was named after the god Athena. They were dedicated to Dionysus and were developed into stories that were acted out. They used masks to show facial expressions.The theater was carved into the side of a mountain.
