Interactive White Board
Drag and Drop Activity allows students to use their hands to manipulate objects on the board

Teacher Needs:
Familiarity with interface program for creating activities
Knowledge of calibration process

Student Needs:
Understand how to touch, interact, and drag items on the board

Alternative:
Hands-on activity using paper cut-outs that students can manipulate

Concept Mapping Software
Allows students to manipulate objects on the screen with the mouse to create a mind map

Teacher Needs:
Ability to create a template with bubbles and text as a starting point for students

Student Needs:
Use of the template created by the teacher and fill it in with own ideas
Creation of own template for organizing ideas

Alternatives:
Draw an example of a template on the board for students to copy on paper and then fill out themselves

Answering a quiz online allows students to press keyboard buttons and manipulate the mouse instead of simply writing responses

Teacher Needs:
Understand the basic workings of the website such as how to start a quiz, answer questions, pause the quiz, etc.
If desired, the ability to create a quiz for the specific needs of the unit and provide a direct URL for students

Student Needs:
Be able to start a quiz, pause a quiz, and type responses in the answer box

Alternatives:
Have a paper copy of the quiz to hand-out and have students answer
