Kaka: Uncle
Madar jan: Dear mother, or loved mother
Padar: Father
Khala: means aunt on the mother's side of the family. In this case it's used to show respect to his mother-in-law.
Jaroo: Broomstick
soliloquies: talking while or as if you're alone. It comes from the Latin words solus (alone) and loqui (to speak).
Chapan: A traditional long coat worn by men in Afghanistan.

Embroidered shawls: a shawl is a piece of clothing worn over the shoulders. Embroidered means formed in needlework.
Pakora: Vegetable dipped in batter and deep fried.
