World War ll

but on the early morning of June 22, 1941 Hitler broke his promise. And because of that the Soviet Union began the war on the Eastern Front.
Arms race
The Nuclear arms race of the cold war lasted from 1941 - 1991. The U.S. created a nuclear weapon to be used against the axis powers. While American scientists had thought that the Soviet Union would not have nuclear weapons until the mid-1950s, the first Soviet bomb was detonated (exploded) on August 29, 1949, shocking the entire world. Both governments spent massive amounts of money to increase the amount of their nuclear weapons. Both nations quickly began the development of a hydrogen bomb and the United States detonated (exploded) the first hydrogen bomb on November 1, 1952. Again, the Soviets surprised the world by exploding a device in August 1953 although it was not a true hydrogen bomb. However, it was small enough to be dropped from an airplane, making it ready for use. On March 1, 1954, the U.S. tested another hydrogen bomb on Bikini Atoll. The Soviet Union detonated (exploded) its first “true” hydrogen bomb on November 22, 1955.
Eastern Front
The Eastern Front lasted from June 22,1941- May 9, 1945.The Eastern Front was a conflict between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.Bored in his attempt to invade Britain in 1940, Hitler refocused his attention on opening an eastern front and conquering the Soviet Union.
The Bay of Pigs
Cuban Missile Crisis
in World War ll
The bay of pigs invasion was a CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) financed and trained cuban refugees land in Cuba in attempt to overthrow Fidel Castro and the communist government.

On April 17, 1961 about 1300 exiles, armed with U.S. weapons, landed at the Bahía de Cochinos (Bay of Pigs) on the southern coast of Cuba. When April 19, 90 exiles had been killed and the others has been been taken as prisoners.

was the dictator of the Soviet Union from February 8, 1955 -
October 14,1964

Born: April 15, 1894

Died: September 11, 1971
The Cuban Missile crisis began in 1962.The leader of the Soviet Union, Khrushchev, secretly planed to plant nuclear missiles in Cuba without the United States knowing. He planted the missiles because he was afraid that the USSR was going to lose the Arms Race against the U.S.He was convinced that the U.S. would never find out.

Missile Discovered
Kennedy found out about the USSR's plan when revealed the missiles were under construction in Cuba.He then told the Soviet Union to remove their nuclear weapons from Cuba and any missile launch, will be taken as an attack on the U.S from the Soviet Union. On Oct. 26th, the USSR sent a first letter saying , if they were to remove the missiles from Cuba, then the U.S must promise not to invade Cuba. The USSR then sent a second letter demanding that the U.S removes it's nuclear missiles from Turkey in exchange for the removal of the Soviet missiles in Cuba. The United States ignored the 2nd letter and contacted the Soviet Union saying they agreed with the first letter. On October 28th, Khrushchev announced that he would dismantle the weapons. To the result of that Kennedy looked like a hero.
