Identify an Internship Opportunity
Figure out the internships that make you excited!
If you need help brainstorming, check out the Internship Database on the SA&FS Website
Meet with the PIC to brainstorm possibilities
Download the SAF 092/192 Approval Form
Find a faculty sponsor
Follow the prompts on the form and share your proposal with your faculty sponsor for a signature
Meet with the PIC to receive approval for your internship
Submit the signed form and attached documents
to the academic adviser by the deadline in the
preceding quarter in order to receive
a CRN to enroll
The following presentation is a step-by-step guide
to help you fulfill the SA&FS internship requirement!
Step 2: THROUGHOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Keep Time Log of hours and responsibilities throughout the internship and get weekly signed approval by intern host.
Attend 1 internship meeting provided by the PIC each quarter of the internship
Keep in contact with Faculty Sponsor
SA&FS INTERNSHIP Requirement
Write Final Reflection and turn it in to your Host, Faculty Sponsor, and the PIC
Show Time Log to Faculty Sponsor and ask them to submit grade to Academic Adviser

What is the SA&FS internship requirement?
Complete 12 units of internship credit
These 12 units must have a minimum of 8 units off-campus and a maximum of 4 units on-campus
1 unit of credit = 30 hours of work at your internship
Register for a SAF 092/192 with a faculty sponsor (and receive passing grade) for EACH QUARTER
you are interning for SA&FS credit
Complete written/attendance requirements as outlined in this prezi, and outline on the SAF 092/192 Approval Form found on the SA&FS Website and the Sprouting SA&FS Capstone Website
Upon completion of the SA&FS Internship Requirements, students will be able to:
1. Develop a plan and attempt to implement it
2. Document activities and achievements (whether individual or collaborative)
3. Communicate effectively with those providing or expecting support in the internship
4. Reflect, both through written and oral expression, meaningfully on the experience by developing awareness of what's been learned and where there’s still room for growth

Finished with all of your internship units and ready to graduate?
Complete this 12-unit Internship Requirement form and submit to Academic Adviser to complete your internship requirement.
VARIOUS INTERNSHIP ROLES
The person overseeing your internship at the pysical location of the internship. This person might be the restaurant owner, the manager of the dairy, a state legislate, or an owner of a farm.
The person overseeing your internship on-campus. This person is a full time faculty member at UCD whose work is aligned with your internship goals.
The person overseeing the successful completion of your internship. This person works in the SA&FS advising office and provides you the CRN to enroll.
