Identify an Internship Opportunity
Preview completed internships on ASI website.
Meet with a peer adviser to brainstorm possibilities.
Develop and share your proposal with your intern host for feedback then attach the final version, along with a description of the internship, to your SA&FS Internship Approval Form (see below).
Present all of these materials to your faculty sponsor to receive approval for your internship.
Submit the signed form and attached documents to the staff adviser, Galyna Erdman, by the deadline in the preceding quarter in order to receive a CRN to enroll.
SA&FS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The following presentation is a step-by-step explanation of the SA&FS internship program.
Step 2: THROUGHOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Keep Time Log of hours and responsibilities throughout the internship and get signed approval by intern host.
Submit Progress Reports 3 times throughout the internship to your faculty sponsor and intern host (or agree on alternate written work with sponsor)

Submit Final Reflection to sponsor (or agree on alternate written work with sponsor)
Submit signed Time Log to Galyna.

What is the SA&FS requirement for an internship?
Complete 12 units of internship credit, six of which can be with on-campus hosts/organizations. If you prefer to complete more than six of your internship units off-campus, that's okay too!
Register for a SAF 192 through your faculty sponsor (and receive passing grade) for EACH QUARTER
you are interning for SA&FS credit
Complete written requirements as outlined in this prezi and found on the ASI Website (or determine a suitable alternative with your sponsor)
1 unit of credit = 30 hours of work at your internship

Upon completion of the SA&FS Internship Requirements, students will be able to:
1. Develop a plan and attempt to implement it
2. Document activities and achievements (whether individual or collaborative)
3. Communicate effectively with those providing or expecting support in the internship
4. Reflect meaningfully on the experience, developing awareness of what's been learned and where there’s still room for growth

Yes! Paid internships are okay, in fact we encourage hosts to provide some form of compensation! Legally, only non-profits can host unpaid interns.
