Persian Gulf War
Response to Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait. After 6 months, Hussein agreed to remove all Iraqi troops from Kuwait. This was the first major challenge to world order after the Cold War.
Yugoslavia was created after World War I with multiple ethnic groups within the borders. A civil war broke out between the Christian Serbs and the Muslim Bosnian groups. After a Serbian attempt at eliminating Muslims in Bosnia and Kosovo, President Clinton helped negotiate peace in Bosnia and led the use of NATO airstrikes against Serbia.
Clinton was impeached for lying under oath about an affair with an intern. After the scandal, Americans felt they could not trust their elected leaders.
