Transcript of Pythagorean Theorem

This is how you can find C^2.... Obstacle 1 NEXT:) PROBLEM 3 Goal Let's start with a
right triangle... Parts of a right triangle Trigonometric equation Simple way of P.T -There are many different ways
to do Pythagorean Theorem.
-But First, you have to know this formula When finding P.T plug in numbers for this
A^2 + B^2 = C^2 PROBLEM Pythagorean Theorem -You are walking up a 500 meter high hill. The trail has an incline of 12 degrees. How far will you walk to get to the top. DETAILS NEXT... hypotenuse Legs Hypotenuse is also recognized as
C Squared.
Legs is also recognized as B squared
or C squared. A^2 + B^2 = C^2 For example.. 12 9 ? a^2 + b^2 = c^2 substitute 12 for a, substitute 9 for b.
we don't know c yet so that's what we're going to find out. -FIND C^2 a^2 + b^2 = c^2 STEP #1 STEP #2
12^2 + 9^2 = c^2 STEP#3
144 + 81 = C^2
STEP#4
225 = C^2 - fORMULA - Substitute 12 for A, 9 for B...,We don't know c yet. -Square 12, which is 144, 9 squared is 81. -Add the square roots of 9 and 12, which equals 225. -FIND THE SQUARE ROOT OF 225 The square root of 225 is 15, because if you multiply 15*15, you'll get 225. c--->15 b--->9 a--->12 -We now know c. (Description) From point a to b you must avoid walking through a pond. To avoid the pond, you must walk 34 meters south and 41 meters east. To the nearest meter, how many meters would be saved if it were possible to walk through the pond? 34 41 ? a^2 + b^2 = c^2
34^2 + 41^2 = c^2
1156 + 1681 = c^2
2837=C^2
53.2 = C Rounded # is 53 500m H 12
