Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.,
Iota Beta Chapter Herstory In 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. became America's first Greek-letter organization established by and for women of African decent. Her roots were established at Howard University in Washington, D.C., where the idea for formation was conceived by Ethel Hedgeman Lyle and supported by 19 others who all together we call our 20 pearls. Iota Beta Chapter In 1922, Sigma chapter was formed to serve the campus of the University of Southern California
As interest in the sorority grew, the chapter expanded its membership to include other universities, becoming a citywide chapter.
Due to overwhelming demand, Iota Beta chapter was chartered on May 18, 1974 by 16 Charter Members Signature Programs Glamour Gowns
