My Quote
This part in the book almost made me cry. I love how the author makes you infer of what happened to Bruno and Shmuel. Also in other places in the book the author made you think about what's happening (unlike some other books when it just tells you). In the beginning you don't know what time this story takes place in until you get to the middle of the book which is another instance when you have to infer. Unlike most books this one will surprise you. I was taken away when Bruno was killed and I really didn't see that coming. This book was very sad but worth it. Also this passage showed their friendship to one another and that really touched my heart.
- The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
"You're my best friend Shmuel" he said. "My best friend for life."
Shmuel may well have opened his mouth to say something back, but Bruno never heard it because of at that moment there was a loud gasp from all the marchers who had filled the room, as the door at the front was suddenly closed and a loud metallic sound rang though from the outside.
And then the room went very dark and somehow, despite the chaos that followed, Bruno found that he was still holding Shmuel's hand in his own and nothing in the world would have persuaded him to let go."
The Fury
I gave this book four stars because it was a great book with a lot of thinking required and may be a little confusing to not as skilled readers and is a great resource to those who want to learn more about this time period of history.
