Local, Regional & Global Environmental issues
INTRODUCTION
An environmental problem occurs when there comes a change in quality or the quantity of the environmental factor that directly or indirectly affects everything on earth. There are two ways of studying environmental problems
Firstly, to look for adverse effects by not looking at the origin of is occurrence.
Secondly to understand cause and effect relationship in order to predict better and make possible efforts to reduce or vanish its adverse effects.

Air Pollution:
The WHO said about 3.3 million people had died as a result of indoor air pollution and 2.6 million deaths were related to outdoor air pollution.
Around 30bn cubic meters of gas is burned by the GCC countries per year, the equivalent of 900,000 barrels of oil per day.
The region’s construction industry is considered to be a major cause of air pollution due to the dust and particle emissions from factories catering to the sector.
Regional and Global environmental issues (cont.)
Soil Pollution
-Hazardous waste and sewage spills
-Non-sustainable farming practices, such as the heavy use
of inorganic pesticides.
-Strip mining, deforestation, and other destructive practices
-Household dumping and littering.
-Soil contamination can lead to poor growth and reduced
crop yields, loss of wildlife habitat, water and visual
pollution, soil erosion, and desertification.
Regional and Global environmental issues (cont.)
Carbon dioxide
Regional and Global environmental issues (cont.)
Acid rain
Ozone depletion
Water-borne diseases
-According to WHO more than 3.4 million individuals die every year of death and disease throughout the world.
Conclusion
