Late 1930's to Early 1940's Also known as... SWING! The music had actually been around since the late 1920s and early 1930s, being played by black bands led by such artists as Duke Ellington, Jimmie Lunceford, Benny Moten, Cab Calloway, and Fletcher Henderson. 'Honey Suckle Rose' Her voice, her instrument... there's a certain childish or
naive quality to her voice that again is very attractive


-Said by Dr. Gordon Vernick " " Her recordings of 'Lady Be Good', 'How High the Moon' and 'Flying Home' during 1945-1947 became popular and her stature as a major jazz singer rose as a result. Society went through some significant changes.This was the height of the Big Band Era. Swing bands started to play a large part in people's lives in the late 30's as people tried to shake off the depression by dancing. Thankyou!
