cells mitosis ctyokinesis interphrase prophase metaphase •cell division in which the nucleus divides into nuclei containing the same number of chromosomes cell reproduction cells are the basic structural and functional unit of all organisms; they may exist as independent units of life (as in monads) or may form colonies or tissues as in higher plants and animals •The stage of eukaryotic cell division in which the chromosomes are attached to the mitotic spindle at the equator of the cell •Prior to mitosis, chromosomes appear in the nucleus as a tangled mass of thin strands (chromatin) and are not distinguishable from each other as •organic process consisting of the division of the cytoplasm of a cell following karyokinesis bringing about the separation into two daughter cells •Interphase is the phase of the cell cycle in which the cell spends the majority of its time and performs the majority of its purposes including preparation for cell division. In preparation for cell division it increases its size and number of organelles, and makes a copy of its DNA meiosis The process of cell division in sexually reproducing organisms that reduces the number of chromosomes in reproductive cells from diploid to haploid, leading to the production of gametes in animals and spores in plants. were cool!
