Bear Grylls
Bear Grylls is a british adventurer who stars in the television show Man Vs. Wild. In this show Bear Grylls has to take on natures toughest challenges by surviving in harsh terrains where tourists commonly get lost. Bear Grylls does this with common items that the tourists normally carry. He teaches people how to survive in a difficult situation. He has to survive in the great outdoors and has to rely on his instincts and knowledge in order to survive. The quote is saying that you have to trust you instincts and what you believe because your instincts are strong and you need to trust yourself because you are strong too. Grylls has to do that whenever he is out on an adventure or else he may not succeed.
“Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson.
"I Believe I Can Fly" R.Kelly
Importance of Nature
“We can never have enough of nature. We must be refreshed by the sight of inexhaustible vigor, vast and titanic features, the sea-coast with its wrecks, the wilderness with its living and its decaying trees, the thunder-cloud, and the rain.”
-Henry David Thoreau, "Walden"
Simplified Life
"A man is rich in proportion to the number of things he can afford to let alone."
-Henry David Thoreau,
Favoring Intuition Over Reason
"But the best read naturalist who lends an entire and devout attention to truth, will see that there remains much to learn of his relation to the world, and that it is not to be learned by any addition or subtraction or other comparison of known quantities, but is arrived at by untaught sallies of the spirit, by a continual self-recovery, and by entire humility."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson,

Macklemore isn't your average rapper. He is a white rapper who doesn't write songs about sex or violence. Instead he writes songs that appeal to people and show the negative sides to using drugs. Macklemore raps the truth and his lyrics mean something. He also got his fame and fortune without the help of any record label. He turned down every major record label and still made it to the top. Macklemore believed in his talents and that allowed him to be successful. I used that quote to represent Macklemore because at first Macklemore was turned down by every record label he wanted to sign with. They didn't like his music but now he is one of the most successful rappers in the music industry.Macklemore was rejected at first just like Newton and Galileo but he turned out to be very great at what he did.
Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Self-Reliance"
The Nature Conservancy
The Nature Conservancy is an American organization working around the world to protect our planet. The organization and the people that are a part of it know how important nature is to everyone. The Nature Conservancy works in over 30 countries, protecting habitats and essentially the wildlife in those habitats. The mission of the organization is to protect the beauty that mother nature has created by protecting the land and the bodies of water on this planet. The nature conservancy corresponds with the quote because they both say that nature is importent is a necessity.
There is nothing in R.Kelly's song "I Believe I Can Fly" that can be supported by logic. What he describes in the song is physically impossible for a human to do alone without help from another object. In the song R.Kelly said "If I can see it, than I can do it, if I just believe it, there's nothing to it." he believes he can do something even though he nothings its physically impossible. R.Kelly uses intuition rather than making logical assumptions. The quote says you can see the truth about this world by having faith and not just going with what the facts say. R.KElly believes that he can fly which is symbolic because what he actually means is that he an accomplish anything as long as he believes and puts his heart into it.
Into the Wild
In the movie "Into the Wild", Christopher McCandless throws his old life away in order to live in nature. He was born into a wealthy family and hated the lifestyle he lived in. after graduating from college McCandless donated all of his money and cut up all of his credit cards. he took his car and headed out into the wilderness. His car was caught in a flash flood and he had to abandon it. He started to hitchhike and after a long adventure he ended up in Alaska where he lives inside a bus that he found. He hunts for food and enjoys life in nature. When resources became limited he ate a poisonous plant and eventually died. The movie corresponds with the quote because Christopher gave everything up and started to live a simple life out in nature. H-e let go of everything in the corrupt society and found true happiness out in nature.
