Transcript of The American Revolution

By: Cindy Li The American Revolution The Continental Congress The first continental congress was made in year 1774. All of the colonies (except Georgia) sent delegates. The First Continental Congress made because of the British actions. The men who was at the continental congress was John Adams, Patrick Henry and George Washington. The colonial delegates meet to dispose opposition to the Intolerable Acts. The Battle of Lexington and Concord. In year 1775, the first engagements of the Revolutionary War between British troops and the Minutemen, who had been warned of the attack by Paul Revere. The Battle of Bunker Hill In year 1775, the first major battle of the War of Independence. The Americans had surrounded the British and fire until they surrender. The French are their allies now. So with the French, the British is out numbered. The Declaration of Independent In year 1776, the British Americans declared independence to the British. It gives all men and women the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and declared that all are created equal. Committee=1776

Years 1776-1777 In year 1776, the Americans needs to win. Losing wasn't an option for them. They attacked Hessian in Trenton, morale boosts, and it angered the British.
In the early 1777, the Americans had a surprise attack on Princeton. The surrender of the Hessian at Trenton. Saratoga War
Year 1777-1781 The american war with the British has turned around. Saratoga is an ally to the Americans. They convinced the French to be allies with the Americans. The French recognized the US Independence. Washington took the army to the south and trap Cornwallis at Yorktown, VA. The American need the French navy to prevent evacuation by the sea. Finally, the British Surrenders. Valley Forge
Year 1777-1778 Washington's army spend a year of winter in Valley Forge. They are lacking on supplies and food. Also nearly 1/3 of the army doesn't have shoe or wither coats. They will be in Valley Forge for training. Baron Von Steuben will be in charge of their training. Baron Von Steuben Treaty of Paris

Year 1781 The Article of Confederation has strengths and weaknesses. Its Strengths are to declare war and make peace, borrowing money, detailed with foreign countries and sign treaties, and operate the post offices. The weakness are that it could not force the states to obey its laws, don't have the power to tax, don't have the have the power to enforce laws, the Congress lacked strong and steady leadership, no national army or navy, and others. The 13 states agrees to create a confederacy called the United States of America, in which each state maintains its own sovereignty and all rights to govern, except those rights specifically granted to Congress. Shays’s Rebellion
Year 1786-1787 From year 1786 to 1787, the Massachusetts rebellion led by the Revolutionary War experienced Daniel Shays against high taxes. Many farmers in this area suffered from high debt as they tried to start new farms. Daniel Shays The Shays Rebellion was a group of farmers led by Daniel Shays.
Year 1787 In year 1787, both the Virginia and New Jersey Plan's were proposed. The Constitutional Convention was written and elected George Washington as President of the Convention. For each State there was one vote. All of the rules were voted on including secrecy. The people at the convention did support a stronger national government. Year 1788-1789 In year 1788-1789, The United States presidential election starts. The first presidential election in the United States of America and the only election to ever take place in a year that is not a multiple of four. The election took place following the ratification of the United States Constitution in 1788. In this election, George Washington was elected for the first of his two terms as president, and John Adams became the first vice-president. Ben Franklin Washington leading the attack on Trenton
