Disease Research project The disease am researching: Mononucleosis also known as Mono Cause: What is the name of the germ that causes this disease, and what kind of germ is it? The germ that causes mononucleosis is Called Mononucleosis viruses. Symptoms: How do you know if you have this disease? You might experience Headaches, fever, sore throat, sever fatigue and swollen lymph glands especially in your neck. Transmission: How does this disease spread from person to person or from animal to person? You can spread this disease by sharing utensils, sharing drinks, food and the most common way is by kissing. When kissing you must exchange saliva to spread the virus. Prevention: What can you do to keep from catching this disease? To prevent catching this disease you should wash hands frequently, avoid any contact with people who have it, don't share cups, utensils or anything that touches someones mouth area. Treatment: What can be done to cure victims of this disease, or at least treat their symptoms? There isn't a cure for Mononucleosis it is a viral infection. But for the fever you can take tylenol or motrin anything that can help reduce the pain. Sore throat you can warm salt water and gargle to help reduce pain and swelling in your throat. The main thing you should do when having this disease is rest a lot because it can cause sever fatigue. iNTERESTING/iMPORTANT FACTS: Sometimes mononucleosis can have complications that can cause the enlargement of your spleen. Your spleen is a large gland found on top of your abdomen on the left side of your body.
