-Savages from Pocahontas
Song Of The Pearl (beginning)
Song Of The Pearl (end)
- Poor Unfortunate Souls from The Little Mermaid
Song of the Family
-Circle Of Life
The song, "Savages", explains the theme evil because when Kino caught the pearl, he thought that the pearl would lead him everywhere. He thought that the money of the pearl was worth everything. If he stepsedon someone's property, he can claim it. He could go to all the places he wanted to go. Where will it lead him? When Kino realizes that the pearl is evil, the song of evil comes to his head. "They're savages! First we deal with this one then we sound the drums of war." Whenever he distrusts someone, the song of evil comes to his head.
- A whole new world from the Aladdin
"Poor Unfortunate Souls" from The Little Mermaid is a good song choice for the pearl(end), because the song represents poor unfortunate souls, who lost what was supposed to be good, but turned out to be bad. Then those souls ended up unhappy with guilt because they chose magic over what could have been better fate than going to a witch to help them. "Those unfortunate souls so sad, so true..." Kino and Juana became sad after they lost everything and next thing they were just poor unfortunate souls.
The song A Whole New World is a perfect fit for the song of the pearl in the begining, because in the song, they say "A whole new world." It's not literally saying their treasures will take them to a whole new world. It means they'll be in a better future, like Kino wanted. Another part that relates to The pearl is when they say "unbelievable sights, indescribable feeling, soaring, tumbling, freewheeling, through an endless diamond sky." It relates to when Kino was telling everyone what he would do with the pearl and what the money would go towards, because Kino and his wife, Juana, believed they would have so much fortune that they wouldn't return to their old, poor lives, and would have nothing, but good.
The Circle of Life song is a really good song to choose for the Song of the Family in The Pearl. In the song, it says, “From the day we arrive on the planet, and blinking, step into the sun.” It means that since we form a family, “There’s more to see than can ever be seen,” there are many challenges and difficulties in front of us which we cannot see them. It also says, “More to do than can ever be done.” It states that there are many work we have to do together as a family. “More to find than can ever be found,” means that there are many things what is going on with the family. In the pearl, it was a beautiful morning when Kino wakes up as he sees his wife and son, Juana and Coyotito. His wife looks at him as she is always looking at him when he is awaken, and he looks at his son. He can hear the splashes of waves on the beach. The mood of this day is defined as The Song of the Family. This song, The Circle of Life, explains all of them in the first verse which is the perfect song for the Song of the Family.
