Worksheet
“Hi, I’m Carrie Melvin and I'm a junior at Ohio Northern University, majoring in Forensic Biology. I read where your company recently acquired a new lab that provides controlled substance examinations and toxicology analyses. I’ve been helping my professor do research on specificity and sensitivity of analytical tools used in these analyses and I’m very interested in seeing these tools used in an actual lab. I would love to learn as much as possible about this area and also get a better understanding of writing Presumptive Result reports and would really like the opportunity to intern with your company. Who would be the appropriate person to talk to about this?

"I'm graduating from Ohio Northern University with a major in Professional Writing, and I'm looking for a position as an editor's assistant. I think the experience I've gained while interning with a number of smaller publishing firms doing copyediting, combined with my passion for writing, could be helpful to your company as you have recently expanded your online publications."
You never know who knows someone who can help you.
A chance encounter turned dream networking opportunity!
Dear Mr. Miller:

I am graduating in May from Ohio Northern University with a degree in political science.  I am looking for an internship in a law firm this summer.  I have had a strong interest in the law since I first enrolled in college and have participated in several seminars of constitutional and corporate law.  I also participate in several extra curricular activities including the Pre-law Society.

I would appreciate an introduction to the people in charge of your firm’s internship program.  Alternatively, I would appreciate the opportunity to give you a call and/or meet with you in person to discuss your career path and how I might find opportunities within the legal profession.

Sincerely,
Teri Rowe
