Alaska Day Festival is held in Sitka, Alaska annually to commemorate the signing of the Alaska Purchase in 1867 from the Russians.
The Sitka Spruce, or Picea sitchensis, is named after the community of it located here.

The Alaska Marine Highway System's Headquarters is located in Ketchikan, Alaska. The AMHS is a ferry operated by the government of Alaska. It serves as a ferry or transport for those traveling to the US mainland without going through Canada. It is recognized as a "US Federal Highway" thus earning its title, the "Marine Highway".
Juneau, the state capital is located in the southeast region of Alaska

Juneau (Alaska's Capital) is about 2,953 miles away from Carmel Valley taking I-5N and 3,189 miles away from Carmel Valley taking I-15N. Both approximately take 58-59 hours driving.
Both of the above routes need to cross Canada, and then take a ferry on the Alaska Marine Highway to Juneau.
Anchorage is about 3,505 miles away from Carmel Valley. A drive will take 63 hours.
