Transcript of Global Warming

What is global warming ?
"a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants."
Why is it a problem?
Well for one, we are melting our little sources of fresh water. Scientists agree that the earth’s rising temperatures are making longer and hotter heat waves, more frequent droughts, heavier rainfall, and more powerful hurricanes. As well as cost too, we are putting a lot of energy (no pun intended) into many researches which could cost us more harm then good.
What can we do to help?
These things don't all have to be huge impacts they can be even household.
Wrap your water heater in an insulation blanket
Start a carpool with your coworkers or classmates
Protect and conserve forest worldwide
and much more!!!
What are the long term effects?
Melting glaciers (freshwater supply)
Disruption of habitats.
Allergies become more common
Stronger weather occurrences.
What are the causes?
Global warming occurs when carbon dioxide and other air pollutants and greenhouse gasses collect in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation that have bounced off the earth’s surface. This radiation would escape into space, but these pollutants, trap the heat and cause the planet to get hotter. That's what's known as the greenhouse effect. Without this greenhouse effect we would be freezing.
