Sticking With My Guitar
By: Alexandra Arriola
Sometimes you want to give up the guitar, you'll hate the guitar. But if you stick with it, you're gonna be rewarded.
- Jimi Hendrix

(Also known as my Pathfinder Project)
I've always admired musicians. But the guitarists were the ones that really caught my eye.
Then I thought....
Why not try it out for myself?
So I decided to learn how to play the guitar.
And so I made it a goal to learn how to play ten songs in four years.
Phase One
Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.
- Tony Robbins

If you're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.
- Michael Jordan
My Discrepancies
Learning the "guitar language"
I have a list of terms I need to look at.
I can study the list I found online.
I will quiz myself to make sure I remember them.
Watching Youtube videos of people playing guitar
I've watched videos, but I haven't tried playing along.
I can watch more videos and try to play along while I watch.
I will try to play along the first time I watch the video.
What I need to do
What I am doing now
How I will improve
Future
Practicing by playing Rocksmith
I've practiced a lot for about an hour.
I can practice more and play other games less.
I will continue to practice and get better scores on new songs.
Going to music stores and talking to people
I haven't gone to a music store and talk to people there yet.
I can visit some stores and look for good people to talk to.
I will go to music stores regularly and talk to people as often as I can.
My Plan
Starting From The End
6-1-18 I accomplish my goal completely.
1-3-18 I master my 9th song on Rocksmith.
5-7-17 I master my 7th and 8th song on Rocksmith.
9-4-16 I master my 5th and 6th song on Rocksmith.
1-6-16 I master my 4th song on Rocksmith.
6-5-15 I master my 2nd and 3rd song on Rocksmith.
9-2-14 I master my 1st song on Rocksmith.
1-7-14 I practice for atleast 45 minutes.
My Declarations
I declare to-
my family
my friends
my teacher (Mrs.Mann)
myself
That you can count on me to-
practice an hour and a half every week
watch more Youtube videos and play along with them
and learn at least 7 new terms from the list of terms I have each week
My First Baby Step
2-1-14 Date to accomplish baby step
Baby step- To get a 50% mastery on a song
To accomplish my baby step, I need to practice more.
I don't think I need to re-evaluate my plan because I expected it to be hard and I gave myself plenty of time accomplish my goal.
"If you just work at it, you'll be surprised at what you can accomplish."
