RISE TO FAME
Even though the majority of the bands founders were born in Scotland, ACDC was founded in Australia, in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Despite being one of the most renown rock bands of all time the origins of the name is not as exiting as you might have expected. The name ACDC was actually found on the side of a sowing machine meaning alternating current and direct current electricity. Angus and Malcolm found this to represent the band for it's raw energy and their powerful performances.

In 1974 Ronald Belford Scott, an experienced vocalist replaced Dave Evans. Just like the young brothers, Bon was born in Scotland and moved to Australia during his child hood. In 1980 the band began work on a new album now know as back in black, however Bon didn't live to see it's completion. On February 19 1980 Scott passed out in the car on the way back home after a night of heavy drinking at a club in London. His friends weren't able to pick him up and bring him in the house so they left him in the car. During the night Scott choked to death on his puke, also known as acute alcohol poisoning.
After the death of Bon Scott the band briefly considered quitting, but encouraged by Scott's parents that he would have wanted them to go on. Finally the band decided to continue and reeased Back in Black witch became there biggest selling album, the album reached number one in the UK and number 4 in the US where it remained on the top 200 albums board for 131 weeks
In 1987 ACDC released their first album Powerage and during the same year the album If You Want Blood You Got It, but it wasn't until the following year when they released their third album Highway, charting big in both the US and UK, this was their first album to sell over a million copies. Later on in 1981 ACDC released For Those About To Rock We Salute you, witch was another huge hit going all the way to number one on the charts. However ACDC had a problem when recording the album Flick On The Switch in 1982, because their drummer Phil Rudd left the band to deal with his problem with drugs and was replaced by 20 year old drummer Simon Wright, however Phil eventually came back and ACDC has been succesful to this day.
