Transcript of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi

By Rudyard Kipling
Rikki-tikki-tavi is washed out
of his burrow by a high summer
flood and carried away. He is found by Teddy and his mother who take him into their bungalow to dry off. When Rikki-tikki-tavi is recovered, he decides to stay in the bungalow because he is naturally curious.
The Exposition:
Rikki-tikki-tavi is almost killed by Nag and
Nagaina. It is Darzee, the tailorbird, who saves him by shouting a warning. Later, Rikki-tikki-tavi kills Karait in the garden to prevent his biting Teddy.
The Rising Action:
Nagaina decides to kill Teddy as
revenge for the death of Nag. However, Rikki-tikki-tavi finds Nagaina's eggs, killing all but one. Then, he intercepts Nagaina as she attempts to kill Teddy. He uses her last remaining egg to trick her, which allows Teddy to escape unharmed. She then leaves with the egg in her mouth and enters her burrow. Rikki-tikki-tavi follows after her.
The Rising Action Continued:
Darzee sings a song of victory about how Rikki-
tikki-tavi killed the cobra Nagaina.
The Falling Action:
All of the cobras are dead thanks to Rikki-tikki-tavi. Now the family can live in peace and safety.
The Resolution:
Rikki-Tikki-Tavi goes into the burrow
and kills Nagaina. We see Rikki-tikki-tavi emerge from the snake's burrow alive.
The Climax:
After speaking with Chuchundra, Rikki-tikki-tavi ventures into the bathroom to overhear a conversation between Nag and Nagaina where they plot to kill Teddy's father. Once Nag enters the bathroom through the sluice Rikki makes his move. He bites Nag on the head and holds on for dear life. It is Teddy's father who eventually kills Nag by shooting him. This intervention saves the life of Rikki-tikki-tavi who was almost knocked unconscious.
