Giglia Prey Crocodiles are carnivores. This means they eat only meat. Crocodiles eat fish, small turtles, snakes, birds, and they occasionally attack humans. Crocodiles are nocturnal, which means they hunt only at night. Appearance Crocodiles have a long, low body with webbed feet and powerful tails. They have dark green scaly skin and they have 60 sharp teeth for tearing apart their prey and eating it. They grow quite long. In fact, they grow up to 18 feet or 5.5 meters. Crocodiles are reptiles. Home sweet home Crocodiles prefer estuaries, marshes, swamps, sluggish rivers and large bodies of shallow water. They live in South America, the coast of Florida and Central America.
