Feminism
"Feminism is the radical notion that women are people." -Marie Shear
"The advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men."
Sex must be of consent
Woman should govern their own sexuality
Objectification
Feminism and Sexuality
Wild: 1:26:40
http://movietube.cc/watch.php?v=xSz2CMDv1B8
Legally Blonde:
Woman are dumb and sexual or smart bitchy and de-sexualized
Men are not as drastically varied
Men in positions of power are all bad
Every character pretty bluntly portrays a stereotype

Wild:
Motel worker is certain she will have a companion that night.
Girls can't build tents
Thinks guy helping and giving her a ride is going to harm her
Man assumes she is homeless
Men
Legally Blonde
Warner: Uses Elle as fun and breaks up with her in order to find a girl better for his image.
Harvard Admission: All guys have mouths gaped. open and admitted her based mostly on looks.
Proffessor Calahan: Hits on Elle.
Beautician's ex: drunk, jerk, dumb
Some nice guys: all much less powerful

Wild
Much more diversity in men.
Alcoholic abusive dad
Sketchy guys she did drugs/ sex with
Creepy hunters in woods
Husband that is still friends with her
Friendly rest stop guy
Nice guys that give her rides
Friendly and helpful hikers
What would happen to the females without the males help???
Legally Blonde:
Let into law school because the all male admission workers liked her serialized video
Brought onto murder case because professor wanted to sleep with her.
Ends with fact she is being proposed to
Wild:
Hitchhiking
Brought home for shower/ food/fuel
Rest stop, bought food, gets help lightening pack and told about new shoes
Rest stop- reopened for her, and brought her coffee and food in exchange for her having a drink with him.
Guys call her the queen of the PCT
Ends with the fact that she is married with children
Stereotypes and judgement
“...a fixed, over generalized belief about a particular group or class of people.” (Cardwell, 1996).

Stereotypes are useful to quickly respond to situations.
In doing so, we do not see the differences in individuals
