Electric Car < INTERNAL COMBUSTION ...lasting years, decades 2,500,000 mile motor Tesla?
$101,500 < on par with 60K sportscar Prius? Insight? Can't recharge instantly *Ever run out of gas?* 5 hours for full charge vs 2 minutes electric, but are hybrids Because gas works Why do they make them with a gas motor? 8 year life
"The biggest and most environmentally damaging aspect of these cars over the long term is their batteries, not only do they get the materials from pits in South America causing damage to the environment but once they die (after about 8 years at the moment) they are impossible to dispose of cheaply " http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=129102 Source "If you are a middle class guy with 2.5 kids and you want a four-door sedan, electric car for about $30,000 you are SOL. "
Source http://green.autoblog.com/2007/09/22/nyt-normal-affordable-electric-cars-dont-exist/ "Strip away the promises and the offerings are virtually nonexistent. Not a single purely electric vehicle with four seats and the ability to reach highway speeds is being mass-produced anywhere in the world. ... There is still not a single E.V. or plug-in hybrid available that can approach the driving range, interior room and performance of a typical gas-powered family sedan, at anywhere near the price that an average consumer would pay." Source http://green.autoblog.com/2007/09/22/nyt-normal-affordable-electric-cars-dont-exist/ "Lots of electric cars have failed not just in the '70s,'80s and '90s as the New York Times mentions, but from the '20s to '60s as well." First, the convenience factor simply is not there. With current diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles, you can hit up the gas station when you run low and top up your tank as needed. You effectively have near limitless range, so long as you have access to gas stations. The fill up process only takes a couple of minutes. With plug-in electrics, you typically have to plug in the car overnight and even then, the range isn’t astounding. Going on a long trip? Good luck

Agriculture is responsible for an estimated 14 percent of the world's greenhouse gases. A significant portion of these emissions come from methane, which, in terms of its contribution to global warming, is 23 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. The U.S. Food and Agriculture Organization says that agricultural methane output could increase by 60 percent by 2030 [Source: Times Online]. The world's 1.5 billion cows and billions of other grazing animals emit dozens of polluting gases, including lots of methane. http://animals.howstuffworks.com/mammals/methane-cow.htm Source Approximately 10 percent of global carbon dioxide (CO2)
emissions are from automobiles, according to the Environmental Defense Fund.
