Transcript of Pompeii

Pompeii This is a Picture of What Pompeii was like. This is what the remains of the courthouse look like. ATTENTION!! This is an Important Message From History!!! You will be quizzed at the end:)! Pompeii was a city that was covered in volcanic ash when Mount Vesuvius exploded. The streets of Pompeii were paved with blocks of lava. They knew how to use their supplies because they were built on lava. Mount Vesuvius covered Pompeii in ash on august 24, 79 A.D. sometime in the afternoon. People did not discover Pompeii until 2000 years after it errupted. Even though it took a while for them to find it, Pompeii was still very well preserved. When they found the bakery,
they discovered bread that had been baking the day of the erruption. It wasn't moldy. Pompeii was built in an oval shape. There were 7 gates around the city. Pompeii had a big supply of wine and oil so they were a wealthy city. Those are some of the same things that make people wealthy today.
