Much attention has been given lately to the ubiquitous presence of information technologies. Our daily lives seem to be saturated with TV, computers, cell phones, PDA's and MP3 Players, to name just a few of the most common technologies.
Then, in an essay that synthesizes at least 3 of the sources for support, evaluate the most important factors that a school should consider before using particular technologies in curriculum and instruction.
Many people extol the ability of such technologies to provide easy access to information and facilitate research & learning. At the same time, however, some critics worry that the widespread use of information technologies forces our lives to move too quickly. We encounter images and information from the Internet & other sources faster than we can process or evaluate them, and even though electronic communication has been enhanced, both the quality and quantity of face-to-face interaction is changing.
-Read the following sources carefully.-

As society further modernizes ourselves we find easier and faster ways to do things. One of the major resources we are now using throughout our education is technology. Schools should consider important factors such as the advantages and disadvantages before allowing use of particular technology.

2nd Body Paragraph
Most students can’t imagine a world without Google or Wikipedia; would their projects/ assignments still be as successful then? With technology giving out a straight answer, students no longer have to think and therefore are lacking skills and losing their ability to process their own information. (Source C) Obviously using technology isn’t beneficial. With one click of a button students have access to the world, but by using technology the students are learning nothing and are neglecting their mentality by relying on technology. In addition, students clearly don’t use the Internet for learning purposes most of the time.”Students have a short attention span, especially in class.” (Source E) “If a laptop or a tablet were given to the students for educational purposes they would abuse them and as soon as they got bored.” (Source E) Students are easily manipulated by technology and its “great wonders” and their minds tend to roam to something more of interest to them that does not pertain to the learning environment. With this technological advantage comes responsibility which many have yet to be obtained.
Despite the fact that technology can be distracting, it can sometimes be effective. For instance, in (Source B), Delaney states, “They’re letting kids practice foreign languages in electronic forums instead of pen-and-paper journals.” By teachers allowing the students to be interactive with their work it can make the students motivated to participate in class.Technology should without a doubt be considered before replacing “old-fashioned” methods of learning which have began to vanish in the upcoming generations. Moreover, the use of technology can keep students away from noticing things around them. (Source F)” If students consistently use technology, they’ll never pick up a book or experience the world.” (Source F) This unquestionably shows that if technology takes over the students will not notice one thing. If students or just society in general continue to attach themselves upon their electronic devices, they will soon forget the basic skills needed throughout daily life and learn to depend on the device 24/7.
With all these technological advances we have yet to learn how to use them to our advantage without carelessly using them. Technology when used correctly, can be a great resource. We just need to learn how to use them properly before allowing the use of them in educational places.
