Short-term and Long-term Environmental Changes
Transcript of Short-term and Long-term Environmental Changes
Long Term Changes
Short Term Changes
A short-term environmental change is drought, smog, flooding, volcanic eruption, blizzards, and pollution. This could happen in any of the food webs.
This can effect how species will have to have to adapt to their environment so that they can continue to live there and not die off.
A long-term environmental change is... ice age, deforestation, urbanization, Earth’s orbit, Sun’s intensity, global Warming, radioactive waste/pollution. Extinction of species could happen to anyone of the food webs in a long term change.
The change can/will destroy the environment which in a long run can do only one of three things
First effect... cause the organism to have to adpat to the new environment
Second effect...cause the organisms to have to relocate
Third effect...cause the organisms to go extinct.
Examples of Short Term Changes
Long Term- The Ice Age caused all of those organisms to go extinct.
Short Term- Hurricanes only cause organisms to have adapt to the new changes in the enironment.
I Can... identify how short-term and long-term changes affect organisms and traits in subsequent populations
With so many changes, species will not have enough time to adapt to what has been going on around them so most likly it will cause extinction.
If there is only one change then adaptions will end with survival.
