Top 10 Disney Quotes
By: Megan Tolmie and Althea Martin
How many of you have seen a Disney film? Walt Disney, the founder of Walt Disney Studios, has changed the world with his creative, inspirational, and adventure-packed movies. His classic movies branch out from The Brothers Grimm tales such as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and many others. His recreations of these tales are outstanding and intriguing complete with prepossessing animation, magical story lines, phenomenal songs and inspiring quotes. Today, we explore the top ten quotes from the Disney kingdom.
"You’re mad, bonkers, off your head! But I’ll tell you a secret: all the best people are."-Alice Kingsley (Alice in Wonderland)
This quote is said by Alice Kingsley, from Alice in Wonderland. She is the main character of the movie. Alice said this quote to the Madhatter after his tantrum when he discovered he was trapped and captured with a chain around his ankle, preventing him to have freedom.

This is number ten because it's a quote that speaks to misfits who find themselves lost or insane. It implies that everyone who lives with a touch of madness, is a great, unique individual.
Quoted by this gallant man, John Smith had been taken into a tipi the day before his planned death. He was convicted of killing Kocoum who was going to be the next chief and Pocahontas' future husband. He said these words to Pocahontas when she visited him in the tipi.

This quote in number nine for its romance, acceptance of individual races and showing that bonds are easy to make, but hard to break.
The Emperor of China says this wise saying to Shang after the war and after Mulan had brought security to her country by saving it from the evil Shan-Yu and his army.

This is number eight for the meaning behind this quote and theme of the movie. The metaphor symbolizes that Mulan had shown incredible strength and honored her family and all of China despite being woman.
Megara is one of the most underrated Disney female characters. She says this quote before she dies, after saving Hercules from a falling pillar. Hercules questions her motives, and she answers by saying, "People do crazy things...when they're in love." Later, Hercules goes to retrieve Megara's soul from Hades to prove their love equal.

We made this number seven for the faithfulness of both of them. They justify their true affection and that they would do anything for each other, even if it means one must lose their life. It shows how powerful true love is.
"A woman doesn't know how precious her voice is until she's been silenced." -Ursula (The Little Mermaid)
When Ariel wanted to become a human, she made a deal with Ursula; she had to give Ursula her voice in exchange for legs. She agreed and Ariel did everything she could to have true love's kiss with Prince Eric before her three days were up. The problem was that she could not speak or express her true feelings for him.

This wins spot number six because it has a powerful meaning: without your voice, no one will hear you. It shows you that everyone has been given a voice for a reason, and you should use it to help others and to express your own opinions. This quote motivates me to use my voice so I can get my point across, give my opinions, and share my creativity. There are no mind readers.
Moving in at number five, Esmeralda declares that people are hypocrites. After Quasimodo sneaks out to go to a major carnival, accidentally wins "best fool costume" and people discover it's not really a costume, everyone humiliates him by throwing food at him and tying him down with rope. Esmeralda, hears the ruckus, saves Quasimodo and helps him escape. The reason this is number five is because of its relation to reality. From arguments with friends to debates in the court room, we people serve for our own justice when really, we never follow what we serve for 100% of the time.
"Put your faith in what you most believe in." -Phil Collins (Tarzan)
This quote or lyric was repeated many times throughout the movie but, commonly in the musical portion when Simba first meets Timon and Pumba. Simba is doubtful at first but, they become great friends quickly.

This is number four because it demonstrates that we shouldn't live in the shadow of the past. It means you should let go of your worries and try to make the future a better place for others and for you. The past can hurt, but the way we see it, is you can either run from it, or learn from it.
A beautiful quote in a fair place for this countdown, Phil Collins'
Two Worlds
is a beautiful song with a beautiful message. It indicates that if you believe you can do something, you have to put your faith and belief in it in order for it to be achieved.

It's number three in this countdown since it's applied everyday to our lives. You have to put faith in something you believe you can do so that it does come true in reality. It's similar to Denis Waitley's quote, "If you believe you can, you probably can. If you believe you won't, you most assuredly won't. Belief is the ignition switch that gets you off the launching pad."
"Never say 'goodbye' because saying 'goodbye' means going away and going away means forgetting." Peter Pan (Peter Pan)
"You're only in trouble if you get caught."-Aladdin (Aladdin)
This quote was heard when Aladdin was being chased for stealing a loaf of bread. A woman jokingly said "Getting into trouble a little early today, aren't we, Aladdin?" and he replies, "Trouble? No way. You're only in trouble if you get caught." Then, a guard catches him and Aladdin proceeds to say "I'm in trouble!"

We find this at a number two spot because of the truth found in it. The fact that most people are only in trouble when someone else sees their fault at work happens often. For all we know, people could have a prank planned at this very moment but, they won't get in trouble unless they're caught in the act!
Finally ending with this as the top Disney quote,
Peter Pan
has had a great impact on all its viewers. The message of the movie is to never grow up since being a young child is always more fun, innocent and creative. Here the quote explains that you should never say 'goodbye' because it means you'll forget someone you may love. This quote is heartwarming and causes you to reflect profoundly. If you have someone you are really close to, you probably think of them often. Whether they're with you or not, if you have them in your hearts, you never say goodbye, and you will never forget them.
We also chose this quote for our lovely Ms. Sinclair. It'll be impossible to forget you. You are the best English teacher ever! We will cherish you forever in our hearts. Happy Retirement!

(We didn't mean to sound corny...)
