pH Scale Lab Analysis
Abstract
The objective of this project was to create a visual pH scale using household solutions and a homemade indicator. pH scales are used to tell us the Chemical properties of a solution and its ability to mix with other solutions. I chose to test: Green tea, Pineapple Juice, Soda (Pepsi), Salt Water, Orange juice, Sugar water, Vinegar, Detergent water, Milk and egg whites. I tested each solution twice to make sure i got the same result. I tested the solution with tow different homemade indicator- Cabbage water and Blueberry water. In both my experiments is tested with different ratios as my independent variable as well to see if more or less liquid would get different results.
Materials

Methods
1.Boil two pots of water, then put one half a red cabbage in one and one cup of blueberries in the other
2. After the color turns to a medium shade of purple remove from heat and strain to get the concentrate alone; then let cool
3. Pick out your ten solutions to test and predict whether it is an acid or base according to previous knowledge of that solution
4. Measure each solution and pour into glasses- you can pick the ratios depending on your preferences but the results will be consistent
5.Pour a small amount of your blueberry or cabbage juice into a each glass until thy change color- again you can use whatever ratio the results will stay the same.
6. Record results and figure why you hypothesis's were wrong
7. Clean out glasses and re distribute solutions into glasses
8. Repeat steps five and six with your other indicator and see them change the same color.

My results for this experiment had a 30% error- three out of my ten solutions did not match my Hypotheses

In Conclusion, besides learning about how pH levels affect the body and a valuable Bible application- i also learned no matter what an acid is an acid and a base is a base. They will not change no matter what indicator you use of how much of it. This directly relates to my Biblical worldview.

A pH scale shows the hydrogen-ion concentration in gram atoms per liter on vertical number; this line numbered from 1-14 with water right smack in the middle, neutral at 7.0. Anything above 7.0 is an alkaline item and anything below is acidic. The stomach is 3.0. It must be that acidic in order to aid digestion processes. The acutual definition is the logarithm of the reciprocal of hydrogen-ion concentration in gram atoms per liter.

The relevance of knowing how this sytem works is very important. Just one out of the many imporant reasons is for your health. Most people who suffer from an illness are acidic. Keeping a balance in your intake of acidic food with a fruits and veggies is ideal for body prevent serious illness such as cancer and diabetes.

My Experiment proves Gods constant and everlasting order when I changed my variables and got the same conclusion. Acids will always be acids & Bases will always be bases; just like Jesus Christ will always be the son of God. We see Gods steady order in everything around us in math, biology and Chemistry.
