Poems
5.05 analyzing 20th century poetry
The River Merchant's Wife: A Letter" by Ezra Pound
i chose this picture because the wife in this poem feels like a slave, she married very young and never really got to live her life. she has to please this guy she doesn't really love.

The River Merchant's Wife: A Letter" by Ezra Pound
The time this was written, They did marry really young sometimes without choice and almost never because of love. This poem pretty much tells you how unhappy this wife was married to a guy she had to wait hand and foot on and she didn't even love him. The Merchants wife never got to live life to fullest or even how she wanted too.
The Mending Wall: by Robert Frost
I chose this picture because in the poem it is about two neighbors separated by this fence and they repair it together even though one of the guys dont want to have a fence between them because its not like they have cows or other animals just trees. the other guy is to suborn and wont change is mind so the fence stays.
The Mending Wall: by Robert Frost
directions
The literary works for this poem i think would be the separating, keeping to your self privacy was big. In the 20Th century people did this a lot because of farms, they didn't want anyone to steal their cattle or crops because that's how they made a living.
